Introduction
NURS FPX 4030 Assessment 3 PICO(T) Questions and an Evidence-Based Approach
The research skills are vital for registered nurses in modern times to focus on evidence-based strategies and achieve powerful patient care outcomes. Creating a PICOT question is a viable technique used née professionals for years to meet patient care goals. The PICOT stands for population/patient, intervention, comparison, outcome, and time. In this process, the first task is to explore a similar evidence-based case study to form a good research question that helps professionals to arrive at a solution to the healthcare problem. Researchers can create a good question and look for the relevant evidence in the available literature; by using several credible resources, they support their original PICOT question. Applying this technique helps patients to arrive at better care outcomes. This report helps to use credible sources online and assist nurses to explore the viable treatment methods for depression patients by using different scholarly journals and online research databases. In the PICOT process, the research results are found which meet the standards of quality. The next step for nurses is to analyze carefully the research results and the best available evidence that allows them to search the best PICOT question. This helps nurses to explain the key findings. Using these procedures, the exploration of the healthcare issues like hypertension and depression becomes more quality-oriented by using the question and evidence-based resources. This allows nurses to enhance their depression care interventions and outcomes.

Using the PICOT Approach on Depression Patients
The depression patients are increasing in hospitals nowadays that are alarming for nurses. These patients are often without adequate knowledge of their disease and psychological treatments; our psychotherapy department has 12 participants nowadays who need good and adequate treatment to deal with depression in the long run. The DNP nurses in the hospital are 5 who possess the right knowledge and research skills to efficiently deal with these symptoms of depression and give patient skiable interventions and medications to arrive at the best results (Greenway et al., 2020). In addition to that, nurses also need to compare their effectiveness with other methods and should calculate how much time they spent in the research process, the implementation, and what the benefits of this model were. Since this period is 7 to 8 weeks for nurses to achieve their goals, this also depends on the condition of the patients. My PICOT question will be: “In patients with depression medications with psychotherapy prove to be more effective as compared to no therapy to get rid of depressive symptoms?”
Models for Interventions
NURS FPX 4030 Assessment 3 PICO(T) Questions and an Evidence-Based Approach
The best framework for interventions is the Individualized Intervention Model; in this context, the model can help to identify the needs of patients adequately. It also helps nurses to consider their past history, competency, and preferences and behaviors to devise the best interventions to deal with depression (Hofmann et al., 2017). This framework helps to understand the patient ace tasks and help DNP nurses to guide new nursing professionals responsible for the wellbeing of 12 depression patients in our hospital. Our DNP nurses are competent and have a good and valuable experience in giving psychological help to depression patients over the years. They can use their experience and knowledge to decide the right medications. Similarly, another model that is preferred for depression care is the Care Staff Directed Model that helps DNP nurses to embrace the Staff Directed framework and plan their interventions regarding depression by focusing more on the education and training of their teams. This helps to provide more empathetic services to depression clients and allows DNP professionals to obtain adequate feedback from their staff which serves as a guiding light to further improve their practices.
Findings from Scholarly Resources
The issue of choosing a combination of psychotherapy and medications is crucial that require professionals to consider a few factors and realities. For instance, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) as well as Interpersonal therapy is popular forms of psychological treatments provided by hospitals nowadays to treat and reduce depression issues in patients. Since many physicians believe that medications provide the best remedy to patients facing depression issues and can bring more quick results by changing the brain’s chemistry compared to sow results of psychotherapy. But there are researchers who strongly believe that using a combination of both of these interventions is the most viable strategy to improve the patient care of depression patients. According to the evidence-based study by Kappelmann et al. (2020), the it is vital for nursing researchers to identify scholarly resources to improve their patient care outcomes. This study was chosen specifically because it is useful in exploring and comparing the effectiveness of psychotherapy in treating depression treatments. The issue explored was the quality of life (QoL) of patients in the effectiveness of depression treatment; the article suggests that a combination of pharmaceutical drugs with psychological interventions to treat depression can yield average to good results on the quality of life of patients. Moreover, another study chosen for this issue is the research by Hofmann et al. (2017) which explores the benefits of cognitive therapy and compares it with medications interventions to treat moderate to severe depression in patients. The author states that anti-depressants are taken by many patients; the study was conducted on a sample of 120 participants who were given medications for more than two weeks in the University of Pennsylvania medical center. The patients received 50mg daily dosage while in eight weeks the response rate was measured that was almost 50% related to medications and only 25% for cognitive behavioral therapy. This mesa the but results of the study clearly show that using a combination of both of these interventions is highly effective to treat moderate to severe depression patients. Similarly, another evidence-based study includes Greenway et al. (2020) research that explores anxiety disorders and uses several anti-depressant and psychological methods on patients. The study argues that the role of psychotherapy in treating depression patients is more effective compared to only giving patients medications and not relying on psychological interventions. The study shows that many schizophrenia or bipolar disorder patients cannot be treated only with medications help as they experience frequent changes in their moods and hard to become stable without therapies. This means that our PICOT question is answered through this study that focuses on using a combination of both of these interventions for treating successfully depression patients.

Relevance of Findings
All the studies explored for this report are relevant in helping DNP nurses decide the answer to their PICOT question. The study chosen by Kappelmann et al. (2020) comprehensively discusses the role of pharmacotherapy that is as useful for depression patients as psychological interventions. The study explores the role of using a combination of these two interventions and provides relevant facts and evidences to help nurses decide the best outcomes. This study examines the benefits of combined treatments which can bring better results for improving patients’ conditions in terms of quality of life. Similarly, the research by Hofmann et al. (2017) was chosen because it was another relevant scholarly peer-reviewed and evidence-based publication in a renowned journal that compares the efficacy of anti-depressants and with CBT therapy. This study also shows with its findings that cognitive therapy has proven to be the most effective and useful treatment when used with medications. While medication therapy is also good for treating depression patients with mild to severe symptoms. However, this study argues that the skill level of DNP nurses is also a crucial determinant of success of these interventions. Another very authentic and relevant study chosen that uses a systematic review of data collected in the medical center of an educational institution is Greenway et al. (2020). This study is also relevant also comprehensively reveal differences in the effectiveness of medications and psychotherapy. The rationale behind choosing this therapy is to consult a systematic review of meta-analysis of data by choosing different depression interventions to answer the formed question (Swift et al., 2018).

Conclusion
The usefulness of evidence-based practices in nursing profession cannot be undermined. The strategy of forming a useful PICOT question is good for professionals to solve many healthcare-related issues and problems such as hypertension management or depression interventions to find the best answers for the patients. The PICOT method is used nowadays to determine whether the interventions used by DNP nurses nowadays are really effective compared to other ways. All the credible resources show that benefit of using medications with psychotherapy for better care outcomes.
